چکیده

This paper discusses the identification of nonlinear black-box simulation models for a continuously variable, semi-active damper for a passenger car. Two model classes are considered and compared. While both classes have an output error model structure, the first class applies a polynomial approximation function and the second uses a neural network. The identification procedure automatically selects the regression variables by means of a state of the art model structure selection technique. Experimental validation of the proposed method shows that the obtained models are able to accurately simulate the dynamic damper behaviour.

Semi-Active Control of the Macpherson Suspension System: Hardware- in-the-Loop Simulations

A modified skyhook control for the semi-active Macpherson suspension system is considered. A new quarter-car model, which incorporates the rotational motion of the unsprung mass, is introduced. A feedback control law in the form of a modified skyhook control is derived. Two filters to estimate the absolute velocity of the sprung mass and the relative velocity of the rattle space are designed. B...

Potential of Low Bandwidth Active Suspension Control with Continuously Variable Damper

Due to rising customer demands for driving comfort, the integration of controlled active and semi-active elements in modern vehicle suspension systems has increased considerably. A significant number of upper class vehicle suspensions is either equipped with continuously variable dampers or low bandwidth actuators. However, the combination of these suspension elements is not applied so far. In ...

Multi-objective Optimization of Semi-active Control of Seismically Exited Buildings Using Variable Damper and Genetic Algorithms

Semi-active fluid viscous dampers as a subset of control systems have shown their ability to reduce seismic responses of tall buildings. In this paper, multi-objective optimization of the performance of this group of dampers in reducing the seismic responses of buildings is studied using multi-objective genetic algorithms. For numerical example, two 7 and 18 stories buildings are chosen and mod...

Linear control of car suspension using nonlinear actuator control

In classic passive suspension design, comfort and road handling are conflicting design criteria. An active or semi-active suspension offers the possibility to vary the damper characteristics along with the road profile. Such systems have discrete settings or are limited in bandwidth up to 10Hz. This paper discusses the development of a controller for a passenger car using a recently developed a...
